A woman aged in her 50s is still in fighting for life five after she was found injured at a home in Woolwich.

Emergency services were called to Nightingale Vale at around 7.30am on Monday, June 3 to reports of an injured woman.

She was taken to hospital and today (Friday, June 7) police have confirmed that her condition remains critical.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder but has now been released on bail and is currently under investigation.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police today said: “The victim is still in a critical condition.

“The suspect has been released on bail and is currently under investigation.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

In a full statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service [LAS] at 07:27hrs on Monday, 3 June to reports of an injured woman at a residential address on Nightingale Vale, SE18.

“A woman, aged 50s, was found injured inside the address.

“She was taken to hospital by LAS where she remains in a critical condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the injuries.

“A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

“He was taken to a south London police station and following interview was bailed to return on a date in mid-July.

“The investigation continues.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.15am on Monday 3 June to reports of an incident on Nightingale Vale, SE18.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.

“We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s air ambulance which consisted of a doctor and a paramedic in a car.

“We treated a patient at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
