A strip of land roughly twice the width of a king size bed is set to go up for auction in Greenwich - at a guide price of £13,500.

Measuring roughly 4.55m wide- at its widest part - but offering a total area of 600m² due to how long it is, the land in Crookston Road, Greenwich, is currently a grassy bank stretching in front of residential houses.

The strip is for sale via online auction, set to begin at 1pm on June 17 and run until 1pm on June 18, with a guide price of more than £13,000.

Located within one of London's "most sought after" areas, the land is touted as a "development plot" and an "urban investment opportunity", with the potential for future residential development subject to planning.

Potential purchasers are however warned to rely on their own enquiries on any likely development potential.

The sale listing on RightMove highlights two potential plots within the land, each measuring roughly 75m² - but with a width only just longer than a Volkswagen Beetle.

The RightMove listing includes an artist's impression of how a development on this site could potentially look, though any such building would need relevant planning permission.

Asset Invest, who are selling the land via Auction House, say that it could provide a "much-needed help" to the housing crisis in the UK.

Fraser Karlsen, Director of Asset Invest, said: "Asset Invest have seen a rising trend in investors and or urban developers acquiring sites exactly like this.

"Asset Invest own over 2,300 titles throughout the UK, therefore when our consultants and surveyors appraise our respective Land, we decide the best process either retain or sell.

"We are mainly focussed on other projects in London at present and our future strategy is headed in other directions.

"Therefore, this large parcel may benefit the Southeast London owner occupier or investor better."

He added: "An investor may wish to land bank such a size plot or seek urban regeneration/development through planning.

"The value and possibilities for a dwellings, subject to relevant planning permissions, would be a much-needed help with the UK housing crisis.

"We wish the prospective purchaser well in the Auction."
