Armed police have flocked to a major road in Woolwich after two males were reportedly seen with a knife.

The men were spotted on CCTV in Ann Street just before 3.20pm on June 3 and were later stopped in Griffin Road by police.

They were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

The pair were taken into police custody where they remain.

Greenwich MPS (@MPSGreenwich) tweeted: “On June 3rd, 2024, at 3:18 PM, CCTV spotted two males with a knife on Ann Street, SE18.

“They were stopped on Griffin Road by firearms officers and arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

“Both are in custody.”
