A sexual predator who raped and sexually abused a teenage girl in the 1990s has been convicted by a jury.
Colin Moore, 57, of Grove Lane in Camberwell, took advantage of a girl who was under 16 when the offending began in 1995.
His abuse took place over the next four years in west and central London.
In 2020 the girl, now an adult, reported the abuse to the Met Police.
Moore was arrested and charged with numerous offences.
On Friday (May 24) Moore was found guilty of four counts of rape and five counts of indecent assault following the conclusion of a trial at Isleworth Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Laura Harcombe from the Central West Command Unit said: “Colin Moore is a sexual predator who manipulated and abused a vulnerable young girl he knew.
“Even when he was interviewed, he tried to pass off his behaviour in many circumstances as acceptable, something that couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Moore was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing in September.
DS Harcombe added: “This woman has shown great courage to come forward and report the abuse she suffered over a prolonged period of time to police.
“We have specially trained officers who have supported her throughout this process and I can only hope that Moore’s conviction brings her some form of closure.”
