McDonald's Garden Gate restaurant in Bromley is set to reopen in June after shutting for more than two months of renovation.

The Downham restaurant, one of the first in the region to be refurbished, closed on March 26 to undergo a ‘Convenience of the Future’ redesign.

This is in response to customers wanting a quicker, more efficient experience when ordering food, which also offers them more choice.

The newly refurbished restaurant will reopen on June 4 with a revised layout and the latest technology.

A separate ‘McDelivery only’ area is part of this redesign, granting delivery drivers a dedicated entrance and service area to reduce congestion in the dining area.

During peak times, the area will ensure a more relaxing environment.

Sustainability has also been a priority in the Garden Gate McDonald’s refurbishment process, with new sustainability features, such as LED lighting and wall graphics made from recycled coffee beans.

The furniture will be constructed from fully recycled materials which can be recycled themselves once they are no longer required.

The Downham McDonald's crew rooms have also been redesigned to create a more comfortable and relaxing space.

Bill Perera, the local Franchisee who owns and operates nine McDonald’s restaurants in the Bromley and Bexley area, said: "McDonald’s is always looking into ways to improve the customer experience and by investing in these changes in my restaurant, we’ll be doing just that.

"I’m proud to say that the investment will also create 30 new roles for local people.

"I can’t wait to welcome my customers back into the restaurant on the 4th of June 2024, to experience the changes firsthand!"

Apart from the traditional methods of ordering, McDonald's is improving its digital sales channels and its mobile app.

A key component of the ‘Convenience of the Future’ redesign is this incorporation of digital sales into kitchen and dining layouts.

The removal of front counters aims to allow for a more efficient ordering system, giving customers more space to enjoy their dining experience.
