A growing number of London Tube and Elizabeth Line stations now have 4G or 5G internet – with more on the way.
All Elizabeth line stations, including Paddington, Canary Wharf, Whitechapel and Woolwich, now have 4G mobile coverage, and work is ongoing to enable coverage within the tunnelled sections of the Elizabeth Line.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: "This is yet another step towards ensuring Londoners and visitors can stay connected on our transport network.
"I promised that customers would be able to access high-speed mobile coverage at all stations and in tunnels, and I’m pleased to see how quickly the team are moving to enable 4G and 5G connectivity."
He added that customers can currently stay in touch with contacts, access travel information, and stream media at every station along the Elizabeth line.
The mobile coverage is delivered in partnership between TfL and Boldyn Networks and was tested to ensure no impact on existing safety systems.
Apart from the Elizabeth line, mobile coverage has begun at the Victoria line's tunnelled section between Euston and Warren Street and at Covent Garden station on the Piccadilly line.
More tunnels and stations are due to get coverage during the summer, with the southern end of the Northern line, from Stockwell to Morden, and Bakerloo line scheduled to get mobile coverage next month.
Shashi Verma, Chief Technology Officer at TfL, said the programme is "gathering pace".
He added: "We are working hard to bring the benefits of being able to stay in contact while travelling through our city as quickly as possible."
Around 31 out of 121 Tube stations that are underground now have mobile coverage.
This represents 25 per cent of underground stations, making it two-thirds of all stations on the Tube network when combined with the above-ground stations.
TfL has set a goal to ensure that around 80 per cent of stations across the entire Tube network and the whole Elizabeth line have mobile coverage by the end of 2024.
The CEO of UK & Ireland at Boldyn Networks, Billy D’Arcy, said: "Customers can stay connected with friends and family at some of the busiest stations across central London, and with further expansion of connectivity throughout the summer period, this will help to create a safer and smarter city for residents, businesses and visitors."
