An 11-year-old cyclist has been rushed to hospital after a crash with a car in Elmers End.

The incident happened in Croydon Road near Long Lane just after 7pm yesterday (May 15).

Police, London Ambulance Service, and an air ambulance attended and found the cyclist, a boy, injured.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) at about 19:08hrs on Wednesday, 15 May, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a child on a bicycle and a car in Long Lane, Croydon.

“Officers, LAS and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

“An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries; his condition is not life threatening.

“No arrests; enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 7028/15May.”

A spokesperson London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7:06pm today (May 15) to reports of an incident near Long Lane in Croydon.

“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a member of our Motorcycle Response Unit, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

“We treated a child at the scene before taking him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
