A free festival is returning to Greenwich’s riverside this month with a line-up of acts and events.
On Sunday, May 19, the Urban Village Fete is set to return to Greenwich Peninsula for another year, kickstarting the summer season.
The event offers an “alternative and contemporary” take on the traditional summer fete and is hailed to be one of the “largest free festivals anywhere.”
The event will be headlined by DJs Gilles Peterson and Jamz Supernova along with an alternative programme of acts offering an urban twist on a traditional fete.
Visitors can explore the Design District and listen to "Creative Conversations”, a series of discussions hosted by BBC London’s Robert Elms.
This year will also see the return of The Incredibly Clever Canine Circus, where dogs and their owners can learn a trick or two.
The fete will also feature a range of activities such as dance and carnival workshops, along with the Allympics where competitors try their hand at nostalgic sports day games like the Egg and Spoon Race and Show Jumping.
There will also be a calendar of interactive workshops and experiences hosted at London’s Design District, which will be turned into the Urban Village Hall featuring arts and crafts workshops.
For the children, visitors can also explore family-friendly workshops in puppet making and toy making along with free face painting.
Visitors looking to do some shopping can also stop by the Independent Traders Market to shop for handmade crafts and baked goods, and the event will also feature a range of street food vendors for the foodies.
