There is no shortage of ways to commute across London from tubes to trains to buses, but there is one mode of transport you may not have considered before.
I tried out a cable car over the river Thames to see if it’s worth the hype and the price tag.
To float up and away above the river, it costs £6 one way and £12 for a round trip.
While this is more expensive than the tube, it is what you could definitely describe as “taking the scenic route”.
To ride the IFS Cloud Cable Car, you can simply tap in and tap out like you would on a bus or the tube making it quick and easy to get on.
It can take you from Greenwich Peninsula to Royal Docks and back, making it a fun way to get across the river when you need to.
As well as being a useful mode of transport, this is a phenomenal way to get 360-degree views of London – my favourite landmark to admire was getting to see the O2 from up high, an angle I had never seen it from before.
I was lucky enough to have beautiful weather on the day that I embarked on the cable car and I could not recommend this more as a fun activity to do this summer.
Even if you have lived in London for years, if you haven’t yet tried this cable car then it is an amazing way to see the city from a new perspective.
If you are someone with a fear of heights, like me, it might feel slightly nerve-wracking to be up so high.
But I promise the views are worth it.
The cable cars arrive at the platform every ten seconds so there is no shortage if you are in the queue.
The journey itself lasts around 10 minutes, giving you a nice chunk of time to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
I took the opportunity to make sure I took a selfie in the air, because what better backdrop is there than a birds-eye view of London for a photo?
Before I knew it, the cable car was drifting back towards the ground in Greenwich where I safely got off out of my pod.
Overall, this was a super fun little adventure and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a viewpoint with a twist.
While it might be a bit of an expensive way to commute to work, it’s definitely worth trying out at least once.
