Over the 2 weeks starting from Monday 15th of April, Year 10 at Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School have been sitting their first GCSE mocks.
The countdown has started.
The Easter holidays were filled with revision rush, pulling out exercise books from the year before, opening textbooks, and making sure all the necessary equipment was ready for the start of Term 5.
This will be the first time Year 10 experiences how it feels to sit in the exam hall under the exam conditions. For many, these mocks mark the start of proper GCSE revision.
The Year 10 mocks are a great way to get a sense of the real exam and highlight areas in their subjects to focus on when revising. The summer will be the best chance for them to go over areas they’re less confident in before the GCSE mocks next November, followed by the real GCSE exams this time next year.
Every morning, form time consists of flipping through textbooks and last-minute revision before they get ready to enter the exam hall. As this is being written, the mocks are halfway through, with only next week to go. A huge sigh of relief will be heard across the year as soon as Friday is over.
GCSEs can be a stressful time, but it’s very important to be mindful of your own health and wellbeing. Remember to take breaks and go outside, and revising with friends is a great way to take the stress off. Good luck to everyone sitting exams!
