A woman whose XL Bully attacked a seven-year-old boy has appeared in court again for terrorising a shopkeeper in Abbey Wood.
Amy Legemah, 37, was given a community order on February 22 this year after she pleaded guilty to being the owner of two dogs which were dangerously out of control.
When a judge decided her XL Bully Hugo should be put down, Legemah stormed out of the courtroom and kicked a bin down the hall.
On Tuesday (April 9) Legemah was jailed when she appeared in court again for an incident which took place on February 10.
Prosecutor Jade Sodipo said: “She was at a convenience store in Abbey Wood that morning and a worker said she appeared to be under the influence. She tried to buy some sweets but her card was declined. She then became abusive and started throwing sweets around the floor.”
As she continued to abuse the shop worker, he ushered her out of the shop and locked the door.
While outside the shop she continued to shout, then threw a bottle at the window at the shop window, causing it to smash.
When she was arrested Legemah was found to be in possession of cannabis.
She later pleaded guilty to battery, criminal damage and possession of cannabis.
Legemah, also known as Amy Ellen, was remanded in custody when she failed to attend court for a previous hearing of this matter.
She appeared at Woolwich Crown Court from HMP Bronzefield for her sentencing on Tuesday.
The court heard that as well as the dangerous dog offences, Legemah was also serving a suspended sentence for arson.
Judge Nick Wattam told Legemah: “When you were given that suspended sentence you were warned that if you commit any other offence during the period of that sentence it would be activated.
“Here were are again, a few months later and you have offended.”
He handed Legemah for 10-month prison sentence.
XL Bully Attack
Previously, the court had heard that in March 2023 Legemah’s XL Bully Hugo bit a child on Attlee Road in Thamesmead.
Then 11 days later Hugo and her other dog, a Rottweiler named Luna, attacked a terrified student.
Legemah had attempted to convince Judge Anya Lewis KC that Hugo should not be put down because he wasn't dangerous.
But Judge Anya Lewis KC ruled that Hugo does present a risk to the public and should be destroyed.
On hearing that Hugo will be put down, Legamah cried out “please no, he’s my son”.
Legemah kicked a rubbish bin down the hallway as she stormed out of the courtroom.
