A police cordon which has been put in place in Sutton has been linked to a murder investigation in Croydon.
An investigation was launched after the remains of Sarah Mayhew, 38, were found at Rowdown Fields on April 2.
Your Local Guardian spoke to a resident, who wished to be kept anonymous, who said there was a "major police presence" in Burnell Road, Sutton.
They said: "Police have been here since Saturday. The area is cordoned off with forensics and police dogs everywhere. We’re really concerned.
“It seems serious.”
A spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed today (April 9) that this cordon linked to the investigation into Sarah’s murder.
Rowdown Fields is around 10 miles and 35 minutes' drive away from Burnell Road.
Gemma Saundercock, of Holmbury Grove, Croydon and Steve Samson of Burnell Road, Sutton were arrested on April 6.
They will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today (April 9) charged with murder and the prevention of the lawful and decent burial of a body.
Samson has also been charged with three counts of making indecent images of a child.
These charges are unconnected with the murder investigation at this stage.
Sarah's family have been informed of her death and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
Commander Andy Brittain, who leads policing in Croydon, said: “I would like to thank the detectives and officers across the Met whose expertise continues to enable this speedy and thorough investigation.
“The local community has also offered much support during this time, as officers carried out this vital work, and we are very appreciative of their efforts.
“My sincere condolences are with Sarah’s family, and we will continue to support them as the investigation progresses.”
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation who has yet to speak with police is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1656/02Apr.
