The A2 coastbound in Kent was closed during rush hour over concerns for the welfare of two men parked inside a vehicle.
Armed police were called to the A2 near Gravesend between A227 and M2 just before 7.25am today (March 22).
The two men were located inside the vehicle and another man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Traffic was closed in both directions which caused long delays in the area but it has since reopened.
Police enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “We were called just before 7.25am on Friday 22 March 2024 to a report of a concern for the welfare of two men who were inside a parked vehicle on the A2 coastbound, near Gravesend.
“Patrols, including firearms officers, attended and two men were safely located inside the vehicle.
“Another man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.”
