A body recovered from the River Thames last month is believed to be missing university student, Samaria Ayanle.
The 19-year-old was last seen on CCTV at her university accommodation near Marble Arch on February 22.
Samaria was first reported missing to police by university staff on March 8.
On February 22 at 8.10am, a member of the public called police to alert them to a body found on the north foreshore near Putney Pier.
No personal property was found on the body and police were unable to identify the individual after conducting fingerprint tests.
Officers also checked recent missing persons’ reports but the body did not match the description of any other reported missing persons at the time.
The body was later examined by a coroner and details were uploaded to the UK Missing Person database in the hope the person could be identified.
After Samaria was reported missing, officers linked their enquiries to the February 22 discovery on March 13.
It is now believed the person found is Samaria.
While a formal identification of the body still awaits, Samaria's death is being treated as unexplained.
Anyone with information that could help police should call 101 ref 01/60807/24.
