Greenwich is often busy with camera crews and famous stars shooting the next big blockbusters.

The historic London borough is home to many unique and timeless locations making them perfect for period dramas and romcoms alike.

From the Cutty Sark, the Queen's House, the Old Royal Naval College and of course Greenwich Park.

Greenwich has welcomed everything from superheroes, spies, detectives, princesses, hopeless romantics and even Gods.

Here's a full rundown of all the blockbuster movies shot in Greenwich and their filming locations.

All the movie's filmed in Greenwich

Thor: The Dark World

The God of Thunder himself Thor visited Greenwich to film the Marvel film Thor: The Dark World starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Christopher Eccleston.

The film features the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College where a dramatic scene between Thor and the villains, the Dark Elves.

Les Misérables

The Oscar-winning film that brought the beloved stage show to the screen, Les Misérables also filmed in the Old Royal Naval College.

The space was transformed into a 19th-century France space with sites of carriage wheels, a towering barricade and more.

Les Misérables starred many famous names including Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Eddie Redmayne.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 

Disney hit, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was bound to use the ground of the Old Royal Naval College.

Perfect for the film's setting, Greenwich is used for the opening scene with Johnny Deeps Captain Jack Sparrow chasing down the streets of London in an action-packed scene.

Napoleon

Ridley Scott's Napoleon used Greenwich as a stand-in for Paris during the revolution, with sites including the Old Royal Naval College and the Painted Hall used.

The 2023 film starred Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, The Crown star Vanessa Kirby and Rupert Everett.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

The Painted Hall was also featured in the 2001 hit, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider which starred Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight and future 007 agent Daniel Craig. In Lara Croft, the hall was used as the setting for the council of the Illuminati.

Cinderella 

The Disney live-action remake saw Greenwich's Painted Hall used as a room in Prince Charming's palace where he and his men practised their fencing skills.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

Hugh Grant's beloved 90s romcom, Four Weddings and a Funeral where the Chapel of St Peter and St Paul was used for the fictional St Mary of the Fields, Cripplegate, the location of the second wedding in the film.

Sherlock Holmes; Game of Shadows

The detective film saw Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law explore the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College as they hunted down Sherlock's biggest threat Moriarty. 

Sense and Sensibility

The 1995 adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility saw Greenwich Pak welcome the likes of stars Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and the late Alan Rickman.
