An estate agent has revealed the most popular streets to move to in Lewisham, including a street with links to lots of local pubs and another with easy travel links to central London.
Known for its street art, historical buildings, eateries and green spaces, Lewisham is a popular spot in south east London for would-be buyers.
It’s also a popular borough on account of its travel links with central London by National Rail, DLR and the London Overground.
We asked Dexters Lewisham to share the most popular roads in Lewisham, and these were the streets that revealed to be the most desirable in the area.
Four popular roads were described as a “cluster” within the area between Lewisham and Brockley, near to Lewisham High Street.
The four roads are:
- Brookbank Road
- Ellerdale Street
- Ermine Road
- Halesworth Road
According to Dexters, these roads are popular with potential homeowners for having “easy access” into central London from St John’s, Lewisham and Ladywell train stations, and are within close walking distance of Lewisham High Street.
The area is within easy reach of local schools such as Prendergast Vale School and Prendergast School, making them an ideal spot for families with children.
For anyone looking to live somewhere within easy reach of parks or sporting grounds, the roads are also within close distance of Hilly Fields, which is home to Millfields Cricket Club and Francis Drake Bowls Club.
And for anyone looking for a drink after work, the area is full of local pubs including the Fox & Firkin, Joiners Arms and the Ladywell Tavern.
Some of the properties in each street date back to the pre-1900 era, offering prime examples of Victorian architecture.
The second cluster of streets that made this list lay east of the first, in the Belmont Conservation Area between Lewisham and Blackheath.
The roads are:
- Boyne Road
- Caterham Road
- A section of Belmont Hill immediately to the south of those 2 streets
Properties on these roads are “sought after” by would-be homeowners on account of the Edwardian architecture of the houses and nearby links with Blackheath Village and Lewisham.
Properties in this area were designed by architect Reginald C. Fry and built between 1907 and 1909, with the Belmont Conservation Area designated in January 2021.
The area is within close proximity to Lewisham Railway Station, offering easy travel links to London by National Rail and DLR.
For shopping it’s also close to Lewisham Shopping Centre and Blackheath Village, with its nearest pubs being the Joiners Arms and Lewisham Tavern.
Manager at Dexters Lewisham, Micheal Bakare, said: "Lewisham has become a competitive residential area, attracting young professionals and families with its popular parks and eclectic mix of properties.
“A popular area for buyers and tenants alike is the cluster of residential roads Brookbank, Ellerdale, Ermine and Halesworth.
“Each street offers easy access to excellent transport links from Lewisham, St. Johns and Ladywell stations.
“The Belmont Conservation Area is also sought after and provides attractive Edwardian houses close to the great amenities of Lewisham and Blackheath Village.“
