A Norwood micropub which sits directly opposite its brewery serves customers the freshest Gipsy Hill pints.
Established in 2018, The Gipsy Hill Taproom, in Unit 5, 160 Hamilton Road, is situated in an old bakery building on the same industrial estate as the brewery.
The Taproom has been through quite an impressive transformation - and staff members not only painted the walls but also crafted the furniture and fashioned a bar from a large oak slice.
The result is a unique and welcoming space which and strikes the perfect balance between modern and rustic.
The wheelchair-accessible establishment also has two 500-litre tanks connected directly to the bar and refilled directly from the brewery.
Led by Robert, a dedicated team ensures the Taproom seamlessly runs, serving the best of London's beer, including their very own from Gipsy Hill Brewery.
Robert said: “People return because it’s the freshest Gipsy Hill pint you can get in a space that is inclusive, affordable and places the community at the heart of what we do.
“Our aim is to create accessible spaces that are community-driven and for the community; as well as being a spot where you can sample our delicious beer and learn more about our brand, including our carbon-negative mission.
“We have a Brew Magic kit in the Taproom, where the brewers can do fun micro brews – each brew yields just one keg so it’s only available to try at the taproom for a very short amount of time.”
The selection also includes great brews from other craft breweries, both local and distant; a fine wine list; local spirits; fairtrade soft drinks; and a range of low-and-no options, which notably includes their own alcohol-free beer.
The pub's inclusive approach extends to regular brewery tours, community events, free kids' workshops, tap takeovers, weddings, and even private parties.
This year marks the ten years of Gipsy Hill Brewing Company and a summer full of fun events is scheduled, including special editions from their in-house Brew Magic kit.
Their dedication to serving fresh pints and nurturing an open, community-centred space clearly resonates with locals, proving that a good pint is always better when shared with good company.
