A CHILDREN'S TV presenter has officially opened a new community garden.
Star of CBeebies, Sarah-Jane Honeywell, opened the Stanstead Road Community Garden in Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, on July 27.
The £9,600 garden, which was paid for by the Big Lottery Fund, is a result of two years' work by residents working in partnership with Lewisham Council and the environmental charity, Groundwork London.
It will be used by locals who want to relax and go for a walk and will give green-fingered volunteers the chance to help maintain the garden throughout the year.
Chair of the garden project, Rebecca Leathlean, said: "It was lovely to see children and their parents taking part in the planting and everybody outside enjoying themselves.
"The garden is for everyone to enjoy, and now it is up to us to keep it watered and weeded."
