VOLLEYBALL VACANCIES: Bexley and England Volleyball are running free summer volleyball taster sessions for over 13s in Danson Park on the former children's playground area.

COUNCIL LAND SALE: Bexley Council is to put three council-owned sites up for sale on the open market. The council's head of property has been authorised to accept the best offers for Lawrence Road open space in Erith and 198 to 200 Bexley Road. He will report back the offers for 92 to 94 Broadway, Bexleyheath, to cabinet member Councillor John Waters.

SAN FRAN RUN: Primary school teacher Jason Sims, who teaches at St Michael's CofE Primary School, Wrotham Road, Welling, sets off for the US at the end of this week to prepare for his run in the San Francisco marathon on August 3. Mr Sims is raising cash for Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital Charity.

NEW CHAIRMAN: The archdeacon of Bromley and Bexley, the Venerable Paul Wright, has been unanimously elected as the new chairman of Bexley Community Policing Engagement Group.
