A CHURCH has celebrated its 50th anniversary with a day of fun activities for people of all faiths and ages.
Around 240 people attended St Michael and All Angels Church, Champion Crescent, Sydenham, to celebrate the occasion.
It is thought the church was the first in London to be bombed during the Second World War but it was rebuilt and has now stood for half a century.
The event included a community lunch as well as entertainment from children's entertainer David Weeks, who sang songs, danced and performed magic tricks.
Vicar the Rev Sue Burnett, who organised the event, said: "Everybody was really thrilled by the day and moved by it.
It was great to see parishioners and the community there.
The aim was to bring people together and I think that we achieved that.
"Having people present who were around when the first building got bombed made it even more special."
