THERE is one activity for the children during the summer holidays, which does not require a dry day - reading.

The summer reading challenge Team Read is already underway in the borough's libraries and lasts until September 7.

The challenge is to read six books over the summer at one of the borough's libraries.

After reading two books, youngsters aged four to eleven, get a bronze sticker and a free Team Read pen.

Four books earns a silver sticker and a Mr Stretch, who stretches in all four directions.

Completing the challenge earns a gold sticker.

All children taking part get a fold-out poster and stickers and there are activities and competitions for all ages.

There is also a Team Read website.

All you need to take part in Team Read is a library card, and library membership is free.
