Claire Michele reviews Hancock, starring Will Smith

This high-powered action movie, Hancock gets off to a great start. The first half is both plausible and thought-provoking with great special effects. Hancock is a guy with super powers, who is definitely not anyone's hero, and is unable to deal with the demands of his unwanted lot in life.

A sudden twist to the plot brings with it a bewildering maelstrom of violence and aggression.

The first half is both plausible and thought-provoking with great special effects.

I suspect much of the audience will enjoy this part most, but I found the more complex story line to have a disappointing lack of development which bordered on the ridiculous. Unless of course the producers are saving a fuller explanation of events for Hancock 2.

Will Smith is brilliant in the unconventional role as the sad anti-hero who comes good, and his supporting cast are likeable although rather shallow.

The movie tries a little too hard to be shocking, but is interesting, unusual and definitely watchable, especially for the special effects.

These are very smooth and so good you forget you are watching special effects. Bring on the sequel.
