A POOL closed after bacteria were found in the showers has reopened.
Ladywell Leisure Centre in Lewisham High Street welcomed swimmers again on July 22.
It was closed after Legionella bacteria was found in May.
Lewisham Council says it has worked with the Health Protection Agency, Lewisham's Primary Care Trust and management company Parkwood Leisure to ensure the centre is safe.
Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock said: "This is welcome news for everyone, not least of all by all those children breaking up from school."
Figures disclosed at a council meeting on July 16 showed more than 1,000 school pupils a week lost out on swimming classes following the closure.
Each week 34 school swimming lessons are held at Ladywell with 1,020 pupils taking part.
