PUPILS dressed as ladybirds and crocodiles turned heads as they paraded down Deptford High Street.
Grinling Gibbons Primary School pupils filled the streets in their handmade costumes.
The school, in Clyde Street, Deptford, has a tradition of carnival and music.
Around 80 per cent of the pupils come from an Afro-Caribbean background.
Art teacher Rebecca Carnihan said: "The day was fantastic, a really nice community event. The children really enjoyed showing off what they'd made.
"It's definitely something we'll do again.
"I was surprised how happy it made other people.
"There was a great exchange between different generations."
Around 170 children, aged from four to 10, took part in the parade on Wednesday July 16.
