A man from Woolwich has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing at a bar in Reading.
The incident happened during an altercation at the Walkabout Bar in Wiston Terrace just after 2am on February 11.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was found injured and taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Krisma Anthony, 23, of Woolwich, London, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a knife blade/sharply pointed article in a public place.
He is due to appear before Reading Magistrates’ Court today (February 13).
A second man, aged 25, also from London, was arrested earlier today on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in police custody.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Nick Hind said: “This incident has occurred in a busy venue.
“We have already identified and spoken to a number of witnesses, but I would ask anybody who has not yet spoken to police to please get in touch with us by calling 101 or online via our website, quoting reference 43240066427.
“The victim’s family are aware and are being offered support at this time.”
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Following a serious assault, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning (11/2) in Reading, a man has today (13/2) been charged with attempted murder.
“Krisma Anthony, date of birth 25/09/2000, of Woolwich, London, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a knife blade/sharply pointed article in a public place.
“He is due before Reading Magistrates’ Court today.
“A second man, aged 25, and from London, was arrested earlier today on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in police custody.
“The charges and arrest relates to an incident at 2.04am in the Walkabout Bar, Wiston Terrace, Reading, when a man was stabbed during an altercation.
“The victim, a man aged in his twenties, was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.”
