A REDESIGNED green area has been reopened with a new name.
The land, by Pincott Place in Brockley, had previously fallen into disuse but has been redeveloped using a £160,638 grant from the Big Lottery Fund, which gives money to good causes.
In May, Lewisham Council asked residents to suggest a new name for the site and it was decided to call it Frendsbury Gardens.
It was opened by Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock and Lewisham Deptford MP Joan Ruddock.
They were joined by residents and staff from the Envirowork horticultural organisation for unemployed people, which had worked on the site.
Sir Steve said: "The transformation to a beautiful and quiet new green space is testament to the commitment of everyone involved in the project."
