WITH changes in rubbish collection on the horizon for everyone in Bexley, it could be time to think about swapping from disposable to real nappies.
More than 15 million disposable nappies are thrown away each year in Bexley alone.
Most of them end up in landfill sites and the cost of disposing of them is £130,000.
A campaign to persuade people to swap to real nappies claims people can save at least £500 a year by making the change.
Real nappies are made from breathable cotton, and are used with a liner and waterproof wrap.
To find out more about making the change, pop into a Nappaccino session, a group of mums already using real nappies who can answer all your questions and show you the different types of real nappies on the market.
Sessions are held on the first Monday of the month, except bank holidays, from 10am until noon in the United Reformed Church, Geddes Place, Bexleyheath.
You can also email nappyoutreach@bexley.gov.uk or call the council's recycling and waste management team on 020 8303 7777 and choose option one.
