ROTARIANS frequently give their time and energy to raise funds for charity, and on occasions individuals make a special effort.
In recognition of this, Peter Nash, this year's president of the Rotary Club of Orpington Crofton, presented member David Buckley with the prestigious Paul Harris Award.
This award is made by the club to a member who has given exceptional service to the club or to the community.
For many years Mr Buckley has provided valuable liaison between the club and Harris HospisCare, in connection with the charity's Bluebell Walk where he plays a major part in organising the marshalling and set-up.
Mr Buckley also acts as Father Christmas on the club's sleigh and arranges the rota for the various Christmas collections.
Mr Buckley joins a small elite group who have been similarly honoured by the club for their special contribution.
The club meets at 7.30pm on Mondays at The Change of Horses in Farnborough Village and new members will be welcome.
