LOCAL growers produced a burst of summer colour for Hayes Horticultural Society's summer show held at Hayes Village Hall on Saturday, July 12.
What was lacking, especially with sweet peas, was compensated for by the likes of a giant hanging basket and a variety of herbaceous flowers.
Vegetables and soft fruit too turned up trumps with Peggy Goodchild winning the trophy for the best exhibit in the former.
Doug Wingrave won cups both for the highest number of points in the vegetable classes and in the show generally - as well as picking up a trophy for his roses and another for having the most points overall in the vegetable, fruit and flower classes.
Mary Turner was the lady member gaining the highest number of points overall.
Winner of the cup for the best exhibit in the cut flower classes was John Ruler who also gained a medal for the highest amount of prize money.
Edna Wingrave won a diploma for sweet peas.
Top trophy winner in the floral art classes was Jean Murdoch who went away with two cups and a plaque.
Alan Cheeseman was once again winner of the floral art trophy in the male-only section.
Elizabeth Kelly won a diploma for the most points in the junior classes.
The society hold their autumn show, one of the biggest of the four held annually, at Hayes Village Hall on September 6. Doors open at 2.30pm.
