A 16-year-old boy from a college in Eltham has been commended for his work as an apprentice by a national awards scheme.
Luke Power, 16, from Eltham Green Specialist Sports College, in Middle Park Avenue, Eltham, won the Young Apprentice of the Year award for his work as an apprentice in the fitness industry.
Luke completed apprenticeships at both the David Beckham Academy, in Greenwich, and the Venture Health Club in Welling and received the award at a ceremony at the Royal Horticultural Halls, in Westminster, on July 10.
The national Apprenticeship Awards scheme, organised by the Learning and Skills Council, celebrates the contribution of apprentices to their workplaces.
Greenwich Council cabinet member Councillor Jackie Smith said: "I am absolutely delighted for Luke, an inspiring young man, who richly deserves this highly prestigious award.
"No doubt through his great efforts he has made many people proud, including his family and his friends and teachers."
