AN OPTICIAN has raised more than £440 to help fund research and support people with diabetes.
Throughout last month (June) Specsavers in Bromley High Street donated 50p from every eye examination to charity Diabetes UK.
The store's director, Andrew Jones, said: "We are delighted to be able to donate money to this extremely worthwhile cause.
"Every five minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with diabetes, which is the leading cause of blindness in our working-age population.
"We urge everyone to have a sight test at least every two years because an eye examination can detect the onset of diabetes among people who don't even realise they have it."
There are currently 2.3 million people in the UK diagnosed with diabetes.
