A man was arrested late last year over a camera for allegedly spying on people in a toilet at the Chislehurst Caves, the News Shopper can reveal.
The Bromley tourist attraction has confirmed the discovery of a “covert camera” in a staff toilet in November.
A man was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism.
The Met Police said it had seized a number of devices, which are currently being examined.
The News Shopper understands that no video or images of customers have been recovered so far, although customers do occasionally use the facility.
The toilet was located in the attraction’s café.
“On November 10, 2023, a member of staff at Chislehurst Caves contacted police after discovering a camera in a toilet,” the Met said.
“On November 19, 2023, another staff member was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism.
“He was taken into custody and then released on bail to a date in early January.
“He was then bailed again to a date in late February.”
A spokesperson for the Chislehurst Caves, in Old Hill, Kent, said: “A meeting of the staff affected was called on Monday, November 13, 2023, to investigate.”
The caves, originally dug for chalk, were used as a munitions storage for the Woolwich Arsenal during World War One and later as a music venue.
They are now a tourist attraction and education centre, hosting children’s parties and school trips.
