A main road in Blackheath village which had to close due to emergency repairs to a leak underground has reopened well before originally predicted.
Thames Water's repair teams were called to urgent repair work on Montpelier Vale in Blackheath on January 21 resulting in disruption.
The company closed the road blocking traffic from traveling southbound through the village as a temporary measure.
The company's engineers are working to repair a leak and the work will cause significant road closures.
Work was predicted to finish by January 26 but instead, the job was finished overnight on January 23.
Thames Water confirmed this morning that teams have completed the reinstated and the road is now open again.
The company says it has allocated 200 repair teams fix leaks daily, including 280 staff who focusing their efforts to detect unseen leaks.
A spokesperson for Lewisham Council said yesterday: “Thames Water have informed us that the repair works have been completed and they are on site today to reinstate the road surface so that the road can be reopened as quickly as possible.”
