A popular classic car pageant has been cancelled for 2024 following the ULEZ expansion, after the current venue was deemed as “no longer an option.”

The Bromley Pageant of Motoring has been a popular annual event for the last 40 years for motorists and classic car enthusiasts.

The event, held at Norman Park in Bromley borough, showcases rare and unusual cars, along with displays, and brings together traders and clubs for classic car enthusiasts.

But following the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) the pageant has been cancelled for 2024.

The ULEZ Zone was expanded on August 29, 2023 to cover all of Greater London, including the south east London boroughs of Bexley and Bromley.

This means that motorists living within the zone or travelling through the zone will be required to pay a daily fee of £12.50 if driving a non-compliant vehicle.

A statement on the Bromley Pageant of Motoring Facebook page confirmed that the current location at Norman Park would “no longer be an option.”

The statement also confirmed that any moves to a new venue and date would help to ensure the future of the event for classic car enthusiasts.

As a result, organisers Pippa and Jason wrote that they had made the “difficult decision“ to cancel this year's event and are working on plans to bring back the pageant in 2025.

The full statement from the Bromley Pageant of Motoring read: “Following the introduction of the ULEZ zone across Greater London, we have taken considerable time to evaluate all options for the future of the Bromley Pageant of Motoring, including whether it would be viable to still hold the Pageant at Norman Park, Bromley.

“It became clear that Norman Park is no longer an option and any move to a new venue and date needs to ensure that this firm favourite of the classic car calendar has a bright future.

“We have made the very difficult decision to not hold the event in 2024 but are working on plans to bring back the Bromley Pageant of Motoring in 2025.

“We appreciate the support we have received from car owners, clubs, trade and visitors over the time we have had the honour of looking after the Pageant and we are as disappointed as you that it will not take place this year.

“We do look forward to what the future will hold for this wonderful event, and we hope to bring you further details later in the year."
