A man in his 30s has died after an incident on the carriageway on the A282 Dartford Crossing yesterday.

Yesterday (January 6) at around 1:36pm officers from Kent Police were called to the A282 Dartford Crossing, following reports that a person had fallen onto the carriageway.

National Highways confirmed that the A282 southbound between J1A and J1B before the QE2 Bridge was closed whilst emergency services were on the scene.

Traffic was diverted and the QE2 Bridge closed during the incident.

In a later tweet at 4:05pm National Highways: South East confirmed that the closure points had been extended between junctions J30 and J2 of the M25 in Dartford.

A man in his 30s died at the scene.

Kent Police has confirmed that his next of kin has been informed and that his death is being treated as non-suspicious.

Closures between junctions J30 and J2 of the M25 were lifted by 10:31pm, nine hours after the incident was first reported.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 1.36pm on Saturday 6 January 2024 to a report that a person had fallen onto the carriageway of the A282, near Dartford.

“The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident and a man in his 30s was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“His death is being treated as non-suspicious and his next of kin has been informed.

“The A282 was reopened at around 10.30pm and a report has been prepared for the Coroner.”
