The Dartford Crossing has reopened after closing due to strong winds as Storm Henk battered London.
Yesterday (Tuesday, January 2), the A282 QEII Bridge southbound at the Dartford Crossing closed due to excessively strong winds.
As the bridge was closed, there were two hour delays of traffic.
National Highways tweeted: “The A282 QEII Bridge southbound at Dartford Crossing is now closed due to excessively strong winds.
“The eastbore tunnel will shortly be utilised for southbound traffic.
“We will get you moving again as soon as we can.
“There’s now a two hour delay on approach to the crossing.”
An amber weather warning for wind was issued yesterday from 10am – 8pm.
The Met Office predicted that some inland areas could face winds of up to 40 to 50 miles per hour, with some areas potentially facing wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour.
The windy weather was accompanied by outbreaks of heavy rain, affecting visibility on roads.
However, the weather today is set to be much milder with the Met Office predicting cloudy weather with some spells of sunshine.
Isolated showers are possible, but they will ease through the afternoon.
Tonight, the weather is forecasted to be cloudy with patchy spells of rain.
