Storm Henk has hit the UK with amber and yellow weather warnings for wind issued across south London today (January 2).
Storm Henk is forecast to hit the UK this morning, hitting southwestern parts of the country and gradually working its way northwards towards the evening.
The Met Office has issued multiple weather warnings for the south east London area as a result of the low pressure from Storm Henk, which is predicted to bring strong winds throughout the day.
An amber weather waning for wind has been issued today affecting large parts of Greater London, including Bexleyheath, Greenwich, Lewisham, North Bromley, Brixton, Battersea, Wandsworth and Richmond.
The warning will be in place from 10am today (January 2) until 8pm this evening.
A yellow weather warning for wind has also been issued across large parts of London and Greater London from 8am today until 9pm this evening.
The Met Office has predicted that some inland areas could face winds of up to 40 to 50 miles per hour, with some areas potentially facing wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour.
Today’s windy weather is also likely to be accompanied by outbreaks of heavy rain, which may affect visibility on the roads.
In south London, the weather is predicted to begin with outbreaks of heavy rain throughout the morning.
Towards the afternoon the rain is predicted to move away, leading to clearer spells with the chance of odd shower in some areas.
The weather is predicted to become increasingly windy towards the afternoon, easing towards the evening but remaining “fairly strong.”
