A Slade Green school has said that “the children shone” during its recent Ofsted inspection.
St Paul’s (Slade Green) C of E Primary School was rated as “good” after its inspection on September 19 and 20 earlier this year.
Staff at the school are pleased that Ofsted has recognised its improvement since 2019, when it was rated as “requires improvement”.
Inspectors found that children here have a “supportive environment” where they feel safe and like coming to school.
Ofsted described the school’s curriculum as “highly ambitious” and there are “high expectations” for behaviour too.
Pupils know the rules and “most of the time” follow them.
The curriculum is reported to be “well planned and sequenced” and the knowledge pupils need is “clearly set out for most subjects”.
Inspectors found that most of the time, teachers check that pupils understand the knowledge they are being taught.
Pupil attendance was found to be improving but it is still a focus for leaders at the school.
Persistent absence is still high for vulnerable groups though, Ofsted reports.
It was also reported that pupils “know their rights” and are taught how to be “a good, global citizen”.
They are taught how to be safe and inspectors found that their confidence increases as they go through the school.
Principal of the school, Wendy Cornford, said: “This is a culmination of all of the hard work staff have put in over the years.
“The school has continued to go from strength to strength since joining Trinitas Academy Trust in 2017.
“I am pleased inspectors recognised that staff know the community well and that parents feel that the school is friendly and approachable.
“I am extremely proud of the staff and the children.
“I would like to thank, governors, staff, parents, carers who have supported us during this journey.
“The children shone during the inspection and deserve to be proud of all their achievements and ‘walk tall’.”
