Police have revealed that the remains found in Crystal Palace Park were “material from a placenta”.
An area in Crystal Palace Park was cordoned off at around 11.30am on Wednesday, October 4 following reports of possible remains being found.
Tests were then completed, and police concluded that the item was material from a placenta.
Police have identified the mother and child and are satisfied that no offences were committed.
The case has now been closed.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 11:30hrs on Wednesday, 4 October to reports of possible remains found in Crystal Palace Park, SE19.
“Following tests, the item was found to be material from a placenta.
“Officers identified the mother and child and were satisfied that no offences had been committed.
“The case has since been closed.”
