A man repeatedly assaulted staff at Sports Direct while he stole clothes, a court has heard.
Over the course of four days, 35-year-old Grant Wake assaulted shop workers four times.
After he pleaded guilty to four assaults, three thefts and two counts of making threats, Wake was given an 18 week prison sentence suspended for one year.
Bexley Magistrates’ Court heard that on October 16 Wake stole £160 worth of t-shirts and assaulted a member of staff.
Two days later he returned to the store and assaulted the same member of staff.
Wake then returned the following day to steal a £150 coat.
While he was in the store he assaulted two more staff members – one male and one female.
He also threatened one of the members of staff.
Last Thursday (November 16) Wake, from Belvedere, was handed a suspended prison sentence.
Magistrates said there is a realistic prospect that he can be rehabilitated.
He was ordered to attend 25 days of rehabilitation activity and was banned from entering Sports Direct in Bexleyheath.
Wake will also have to pay over £400 in compensation to various parties.
