Bill’s in Greenwich is a popular dog-friendly eating spot in Greenwich and currently they are offering Christmas menus, including a range of Christmas specials, a Christmas party menu, festive cocktails and even a Christmas menu for your dog.
I was recently invited by Bill’s to try their Christmas menu with a friend, as well as my guide dog Rosie, who on this occasion was able to partake in some culinary delights.
Cocktails
Alongside their food menu, Bill’s are also offering a selection of Christmas-themed cocktails, including their Candy Cane Crush, Apple N Spice and Cherry Berry Bramble.
I tried the Cherry Berry Bramble, as being a lover of the classic Bramble drink it sounded like it would be rather up my alley, and it was certainly a very festive take on the traditional Bramble.
The drink contains Plymouth gin, cherry syrup, cranberry juice, lemon and blackberry shaken over ice.
This drink tasted so sweet and festive, the cherry syrup really gave it a sweeter edge compared to normal Brambles which tend to be slightly more sour.
Food
Bill’s are currently offering a Christmas Specials menu, which features a selection of festive-themed mains as well as a dessert.
For starters we sampled some of Bill’s regular A La Carte starters, including the Chicken and Sesame Dumplings with spiced chutney, and the Roast Squash and Hummus Flatbread with pumpkin seeds and olive oil.
From the Christmas specials menu I tried the Festive Fillet of Salmon with Beetroot and Feta Risotto.
My friend tried the Notorious P.I.B. Burger made with sausage patties, streaky bacon, cranberry ketchup, sage and onion mayo and fried onions with a side of rosemary fries and truffle gravy.
The pan-fried salmon was very delicious. There was a great variety of textures and flavours with the feta, beetroot and the salmon.
My friend equally enjoyed the burger and said it tasted like a very festive take on a traditional burger, along with the cranberry and sage and onion.
For desserts I was offered to try one of the desserts from their Christmas Party Menu, which was the White Chocolate Snowball, a kind of mousse with brownie pieces and a mandarin base.
The only way I can describe it is that it was like a fancy version of a chocolate orange, with the mandarin at the bottom and the white chocolate pieces on the top.
The texture slightly reminded me of a trifle with a slight crunchiness on top, it was nothing like I’ve ever tried before.
My friend tried the Merry Black Cherry and Dark Chocolate Eton Mess, which was topped with black cherries, dark chocolate shavings and a golden crumble.
One thing I’ll say about Bill’s is that they can find ways of reinventing firm favourites and making them into something new and seasonal.
My friend loved this dessert and said the flavours reminded him of a Black Forest gateau, with the dark chocolate and cherries with the texture of an Eton mess.
Dog Menu
Alongside the menu for humans, Bill’s are also offering a dog menu, which contains an array of festive treats from pigs in blankets to dog-friendly ice cream, and even festive dog-friendly drinks.
There are very few places I’ve been that offer a dog-friendly menu, let alone a Christmas dog-friendly menu.
I will say the menu was very much Rosie-approved, who enjoyed some festive pigs in blankets after we had finished our meal.
All in all, I think Bill’s would make a great place for a Christmas meal this festive season, whether you are looking to celebrate with friends or enjoy a meal with the family, including your furry friends too.
