Two people were arrested at a pro-Palestinian protest in Lewisham on Saturday – with one woman allegedly holding an anti-Semitic placard during the demonstration.
Starting at Lewisham Islamic Centre, protesters marched towards Glass Mills Leisure Centre for a static protest on November 18.
Police carried out two arrests near Lewisham DLR station.
One involved a 20-year-old woman who was allegedly holding an anti-Semitic placard, and a 37-year-old man who is alleged to have obstructed police from making the arrest.
Lewisham Police confirmed the demonstration ended without other issues.
Lewisham Police tweeted: “A local-pro Palestinian protest is taking place in Lewisham today. We'll post updates on this thread.
“The group has walked from the Lewisham Islamic Centre to the High Street. We expect them to continue on to the Glass Mills Leisure Centre where they will hold a static protest.
“Officers have made two arrests in the vicinity of Lewisham DLR station.
“A teenage girl was arrested for having an anti-Semitic placard and a man who tried to stop officers making the arrest was arrested for obstruction.
“An update on the arrests above. The woman arrested was 20, not a teenager as previously thought.
“The man who was arrested is 37.
“The demonstration has now concluded with no issues other than the two arrests we posted about earlier.”
