A car which was on fire in the east tunnel of the Dartford Crossing has caused traffic and long delays this afternoon (Thursday).
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight in the east tunnel at the Dartford Crossing today (November 16).
Three fire engines attended, as well as two from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
Crews extinguished the flames with hose reel jets.
No injuries have been reported.
Both the east and west tunnels were closed due to the significant amount of smoke – they have since reopened.
There are still long delays in the area.
Duty of care was left with the Highways Agency.
A spokesperson for Kent and Fire Rescue said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight in the east tunnel at the Dartford Crossing.
“Three fire engines attended, as well as two from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, and crews extinguished the flames with hose reel jets.
“No injuries were reported.
“Duty of care was left with the Highways Agency.”
