Pivot is a bar and eatery located in Henrietta Street in Covent Garden, set in a former Georgian townhouse within close walking distance of Covent Garden Underground Station.
The business recently launched a new 60-minute menu, where they have promised guests who aren’t served their three courses within an hour will get to eat for free.
Guests can either choose two courses for £25 or three courses for £29.50, and the menu is available on Monday to Friday from 12pm until 9pm.
I was invited to try the menu with a plus one and, being a working girl in central London, the idea of a menu served within an hour greatly appealed to me.
We had a table with great views of Covent Garden’s beautiful Christmas tree, which has since been switched on for Christmas 2023.
The menu
The 60-minute menu includes some of Pivot’s most popular dishes from their regular menu, from traditional Scottish Smoked Salmon to Roasted Ham, Egg and Potato served with English mustard and gravy.
For starters I tried the Scottish Salmon, which was served with a light creamy sauce and herbs, whilst my companion ordered the Dressed Asparagus.
It was very light and well flavoured and was served within the first 10 minutes along with our cocktails.
We then moved onto our mains. I ordered the Free Range Chicken with mushrooms and tarragon cream sauce, which was very warming and quite a hearty dish, and my plus one ordered the Creamy Mushrooms on Toast.
Both were served shortly after our starters before we moved on to, in my opinion, the best part of any meal, the dessert.
I ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which came with custard, and my plus one ordered the Pavlova with fresh berries.
I really enjoyed the dessert most of all. It was rich and a very generous sized portion, and came at around 50 minutes after we had first made our order for a starter.
All in all, I can confirm that this meal came within 60 minutes of ordering and we were fed and on our way home within an hour.
I think this is such an interesting concept, especially for people looking for somewhere to stop off for dinner after work or on an evening out in London.
The venue is in a great location and it's well worth a visit if you happen to be in Covent Garden any time soon.
