A man from Streatham will be appearing on TV screens every Sunday night as he competes for a place in the iconic West End musical, Mamma Mia.
Zachkiel Smith, 21, is competing with six other men to play the role of Sky in the brand new reality TV show Mamma Mia, I Have a Dream.
The show airs on ITV every Sunday at 6pm.
The show is filmed in Corfu and sees the contestants take part in a range of challenges and performances as a set of judges decide who will perform Sophie and Sky in the stage version in London.
Amber Riley, best known for playing Mercedes in Glee, Samantha Barks, currently playing Elsa in Frozen on the West End, Alan Carr, comedian, and Jessie Ware, singer-songwriter, will be deciding the performer’s fates, eliminating one contestant each week.
Zachkiel studied at the Brit School in Croydon for four years before heading to Emil Dale Academy in Hitchin, Hertfordshire where he completed his degree this year.
He has said that being part of Mamma Mia, I Have a Dream is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity and that the highlight of the show for him is being able to have the creative freedom to make his own choices.
He told the London Post that while he was always wanted to be a performer, he also dreamed of being a musician and has played piano, guitar, violin and cello from a young age.
As a musician, he has played in numerous live shows, including a gig for Soul II Soul in Southbank.
But, he told the London Post that the gig helped him realise that he would rather be a performer than a musician.
After finishing his degree, he signed with his first talent agency straight away - Bronia Buchanan’s BBA Management.
He told the London Post that he loves working with the agency and that they give him everything he could have wanted in an agent.
