A planning application has been submitted by McDonald’s to allow a 24-hour opening of its branch in Eltham.
The application was proposed to Greenwich Council on October 24 for its restaurant in Eltham High Street.
Its current planning permission restricts opening hours between 2am and 5am, according to the Greenwich Council site.
If the application is accepted this will allow the Eltham branch to also operate within the restricted hours.
Sales at the restaurant are currently available seven days a week, Monday to Sunday from 5am until 2am.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said there is a demand among the community for the Eltham restaurant to open later.
It explained: “Our Eltham restaurant has been trading until 2am for over three years now and we know that there is demand amongst our local community for us to be open later.
“A 24-hour license would allow us to create more jobs in the local area and provide an even better service to those who live and work near our restaurant.
“We look forward to working with the council to finalise the application process.”
It is unknown when a decision will be made regarding the application.
