A south east London hotel was evacuated after a fire which is now under investigation.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a hotel on Waterloo Road in Waterloo today (Monday, October 30) at 12.43pm.
Around 60 people were evacuated by hotel staff before London Fire Brigade arrived.
A small part of a cupboard on the first floor was damaged by the fire, which caused heavy smoke logging in the building.
No injuries were reported and the fire was under control by 1.48pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a small fire at a hotel on Waterloo Road in Waterloo.
“A small part of a cupboard on the first floor was damaged by fire, causing heavy smoke logging throughout the building.
“Around 60 people were evacuated by on-site staff before the Brigade arrived.
“There were no reports of any injuries.
“The Brigade was called at 12.43pm and the fire was under control by 1.48pm.
“Fire crews from Dowgate, Lambeth, Whitechapel, Soho, Shadwell and Clapham fire stations attended the scene.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
