A mum from Slade Green says she has been sleeping on her sofa for two-and-a-half years because of issues in her home which is under the care of Orbit Housing.
Linda Fraser lives on Bridge Road with her two children and said issues at her house began when she noticed cracks forming across the walls in her daughters room during 2020.
The mum-of-two claims her house has had interior problems, such as cracks forming up walls, mould building on her bathroom ceiling, and doorframes hanging off.
Linda told the News Shopper: “We do not feel safe here.
“With my daughter's room, they told me they were going to go back to the brick work and redo a room - they did it just after Christmas and it took them three years.
“The cracks are already coming back.
“My other daughter’s room had doorframes coming off and she has mould inside the room.
“Me and my girls just want out now – we have had enough.
“It has been three years, and I have been sleeping on the sofa for two and a half years because my daughters’ room is so bad.”
Linda says she has been “trying everything she can” to sort it, but she claims the cracks on her walls are “already coming back”.
Linda said: “When I took the wallpaper off, I cried my eyes out – there were holes in our walls.
“My other daughter’s doorframe is hanging off and she has mould in her room.
“I feel like my daughters’ can’t take much more”.
Orbit Housing says it has “completed” works to replaster and replace Linda’s home, including the “kitchen, lounge, and bedroom”.
The spokesperson added: “Our Area Inspector also completed a further property inspection in August 2023 and confirmed that there are no structural issues.”
Linda says she was told that only some jobs could be done, but not others.
“I had to wait a year for them to redo my kitchen”, she added.
A spokesperson for Orbit Housing says they will be “reaching out” to Linda so they can reinvestigate the issues at her home in Slade Green.
The full Orbit Housing statement said: “We can confirm that we have completed works to replaster and redecorate areas of Miss Fraser's home, including the kitchen, lounge and bedrooms.
“Our Area Inspector also completed a further property inspection in August 2023 and confirmed that there are no structural issues. “However, Miss Fraser obviously remains concerned.
“Providing all of our customers with a home that they feel safe in is central to our purpose and we encourage them to raise any concerns they have with us directly so that we can complete any necessary investigations and repairs as required.
“We will therefore be reaching out to Miss Fraser so that we can reinvestigate as appropriate.”
