A popular Orpington-based restaurant has been crowned one of the UK’s best restaurants at a prestigious national curry awards.
The Bombay Restaurant won National Best Restaurant at the Curry Life Awards 2023.
The awards, organised by the Curry Life Media Group, celebrate the UK’s best curry restaurants, with a range of Asian cuisines from Sri Lankan to Bangladeshi.
This year, the Curry Life Awards marked their 14th year with a ceremony held at the Marriott Hotel in London on Sunday (October 15).
Initially, the Bombay Restaurant was nominated for the Best Indian Restaurant Award for Bromley.
However, the restaurant was later put forward by judges to be entered for the highly coveted National Best Restaurant award, which narrowed 1,000 of the entering restaurants down to only 100.
The Bombay Restaurant is a family-run and owned business, which is currently co-run by Kobir Hussain and his two brothers Sah and MJ, and owned by their uncle for the last 40 years.
The restaurant serves traditional Indian cuisine, with their most popular meals being tandoori dishes and their masala dishes.
They also offer four unique dining spaces, including a jungle-inspired area for families and a more formal area for events and parties.
This award marks the restaurant’s second to be won this year – earlier this year the restaurant won Best Restaurant at the British Bengal Curry Awards (BBCA) 2023.
The restaurant is also in the running to win two further awards at the Asian Curry Awards and British Curry Awards, with the winners to be announced at awards ceremonies later this year.
Co-manager MJ, who attended the event, said: “Winning the National Best Restaurant at the Curry Life Awards is a massive achievement.
“We could not have done this without our amazing customers who have supported us since we opened in 1984. The customers are our jewel to our success.
“I feel very proud of my team for their hard work.“
