The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that there will be pre-planned increased police, ambulance, and fire brigade activity for a training exercise in Woolwich.

The training exercise will take place within a contained area of the Royal Artillery Barracks today (October 11), between 9am and 5pm.

The services involved are the Metropolitan Police Service, Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, the NHS, and Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The Met Police has confirmed that this has no risk to the public.

There will be increased police, ambulance, and fire brigade activity in this confined area during the exercise.

In a letter addressed to residents, PS Dean Cuomo says he “apologises” for any inconvenience that this may cause. The exercise has been organised as part of ongoing contingency planning and is not in response to a specific threat.

The letter reads: “Dear resident, “On Wednesday October 11, there will be a pre-planned training exercise involving the Metropolitan Police Service, Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, the NHS and Royal Borough of Greenwich.

“The exercise will take place within a contained area within the Royal Artillery Barracks with no risk to the public.

“There will be increased police, ambulance, and fire brigade activity in this confined area during the exercise between 9am and 5pm and I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

“The exercise has been organised as part of ongoing contingency planning and is not in response to a specific threat.
